Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my mom adventures in Singapore with my kids. Hope you have a nice stay!

Snuggs Family Singapore River Safari Adventure

Snuggs Family Singapore River Safari Adventure

We decided to go on a wet and wild adventure to the Singapore River Safari this afternoon.  It was an Alfie, Mommy & Daddy kind of day and the little man was super excited to see crocodiles, turtles and fishies.

He doesn't look excited, but I promise, he was!

Often, going on excursions, to attractions in Singapore, equals standing in long lines in the blazing heat.  After having had that experience a few times trying to wrangle both kids, I decided to pre-purchase tickets on KLOOK and it streamlined our entire "ticket buying - entering park" procedure and was totally stress free.  I literally did a quick google search, found this app, downloaded app, and purchased the tickets at a discount(!). Once we arrived at the park, we went straight to the kiosk at the Membership Services office (which is right next to the main ticket counter next to all the f&b vendors), scanned the barcode of my voucher from my phone and voila! - tickets right away and most importantly NO STANDING IN LINES!  I just have to say how appreciative I was for this, because that meant we did not have to waste an hour of our precious time, and also as every parent knows, an hour of our toddler's time (every minute inching towards the witching hour). 100%, well done KLOOK.

Daddy had the genius idea to skip the crowds further by starting at the "end" of the Safari rather than the beginning (turn right upon entering rather than turning left).  So, we started our journey at the Amazon Flooded Forest, which is an indoor exhibit (yay aircon!) highlighted by a sleeping river otter, arapaima, the world's largest freshwater fish and manatees.  Who doesn't love manatees? They are SO cute and use their little hand/flippers to stuff yummy delicious veggie munchies into their mouths!

While the River Safari is a mixture of zoo and aquarium, we really thought it was suitable for young children as it has the feel and size of a walkable park. It wasn't too big and there are plenty of things to see. Although the walkways between the exhibits are outside, they are covered and protected us from the harsh sun and heat.  I would still definitely recommend bringing a stroller for the littles, sunscreen and mosquito repellant.  It really was quite enjoyable as we strolled from one exhibit to another through lush jungle foliage or gangways above the Upper Seletar Reservoir.

Our favorite exhibits were the Mekong River, Manatees, the Alligator Snapping Turtle at the Mississippi River exhibit and the Indian Gharial at the Ganges River Exhibit.  We decided to skip the Pandas and Squirrel Monkey Forest as the little critters are pretty aggressive.  We don't need any nightmares tonight! Although a 2 year old is much too small to go on the Amazon River Quest ride, a toddler friendly alternative is the River Safari Cruise.  Again, we decided to skip this as the queue was about 30 minutes long and Alfie prefers to be able to walk around and explore. There will be plenty of opportunities to be back in the near future!
